FaceRate.ai vs BecomeTen: an out-of-10 golden-ratio rating against a calibrated score

Who is FaceRate.ai for?

FaceRate.ai is a browser product with an account. Its home page describes four things: a face attractiveness test that rates the eyes, nose, mouth and face shape out of 10 with an overall score out of 10; a face shape analyser; a golden ratio test for symmetry that it calls science-based; and artistic face generation, where a photo or a written description becomes a portrait with insights into personality and emotions. You can, per the page, be rated from a description alone without uploading a photo.

That suits someone who wants a feature-by-feature score, is happy to create an account, and is interested in the portrait and personality extras as much as the rating. What it does not tell you is what it costs. The terms say subscription plans exist and auto-renew, but no price appears on the site, and the pricing address returned no page when we checked. Nor do the pages say what is shown before you pay, so we do not guess.

Who is BecomeTen for?

BecomeTen is a browser rater without the extras. One photo returns a score out of 100, one of eight tiers and a share card, free, one scan per device per day, no sign-up. The full report is €6.99 once: 30+ traits across harmony, eye area, jaw and chin, skin and hair, each as a directional band; a non-surgical potential capped per area; weak points tagged workable or structural; and a plan in which every step carries an evidence level and cites only a curated PubMed-verified library.

It is for someone who wants the number before paying, wants the working shown, and wants a fixed price. The calibration is strict: an average, healthy, groomed person lands around 50–60 and above 80 is reserved for striking structure. It is 18+, English only, with no store app yet. Out of 10 or out of 100: does the scale matter?

Not in itself. What matters is whether the scale has a stated anchor. FaceRate.ai rates each feature and the whole face out of 10, and its pages do not say where an ordinary face lands, so a 6 there has no public meaning. BecomeTen's 0–100 is anchored: average, healthy and groomed sits around 50–60, and the mapping to the forum's 1–8 ladder is fixed and published. A number without an anchor is a mood; a number with one is a position.

The second difference is what the number is built from. FaceRate.ai's home page names the golden ratio as the basis of its symmetry and aesthetic rating. BecomeTen does not score against the golden ratio, because nothing in the evidence it cites shows that closeness to a fixed ratio predicts how a face is rated once symmetry, averageness and skin are accounted for. Subscription with no listed price, or one payment?

FaceRate.ai's terms are clear about the mechanics and silent about the amount: plans renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date, cancellation is possible at any time, and fees already paid are not refunded. Third-party directories list prices for it; we do not repeat them, because they are not on FaceRate.ai's own site and may be wrong or stale. If you consider it, find the price inside the product before you enter a card.

Is the science actually shown?

Calling a rating science-based is easy; showing the science is the test. FaceRate.ai's pages name no study, so the citations cell reads not stated on their site. On BecomeTen, every plan step is labelled strong, moderate, weak or no studies, the AI may only cite from a curated library, and the server checks each reference before it reaches you. Grooming, brow shaping and mewing are labelled as having no studies, because they do not.

What happens to your photo and your upload licence?

This is the cell to read twice. FaceRate.ai's privacy policy states that the service collects only your email address and says nothing about photos, retention or deletion of images. Its terms, meanwhile, state that by uploading content you grant Face Rate a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide licence to use, display, modify and distribute that content on the platform. Registering also confirms you are at least 18. No operator name or country appears on the pages we checked.

BecomeTen deletes the photo from a free scan right after scoring; only the text analysis is kept. A paid scan is stored encrypted in the EU until you delete it or your account, because a re-scan compares against it. No photo is used to train a model and none is sold. The seller is Appinara s. r. o. in Slovakia, with public terms, refunds and a privacy policy that say this in plain words.

What BecomeTen deliberately does not do

• No rating from a written description. A score needs a photo, graded for light, angle and sharpness first.
• No personality or emotion reading; a face does not tell a model who you are.
• No numeric bone measurements from a photo; every structural trait is a directional band.
• No golden-ratio scoring, no leaderboard, no ethnicity or gender adjustment.
• No perpetual licence to your upload. The photo is yours; we store it only for a paid re-scan and delete it when you say.

How to choose between FaceRate.ai and BecomeTen

Pick FaceRate.ai if the feature-by-feature scores out of 10, the portrait generation and the description-based rating are what you want, you are fine with an account and an auto-renewing plan, and you have found the price inside the product.
