Does a face rating app keep my photo?
It depends on the app, and the privacy policy is the only reliable answer. Some delete the photo as soon as the score is made, some keep it for weeks or until you delete your account, and some reserve the right to use it to improve their models. A face photo is biometric data, so it deserves the same care as a password.
How the parts of a face relate to one another.
Explore proportionsWhat to check before you upload
- Retention. Does the policy say when the photo is deleted: straight after scoring, after a set period, or only when you ask?
- Training. Does it say plainly that your photo is not used to train or improve a model? Vague wording about improving the service often covers this.
- Location and encryption. Where is a stored photo kept, and is it encrypted?
- Deletion you control. Can you delete a stored photo yourself, without writing in?
- Sharing and visibility. Is the photo ever shown to other users, sold or passed to partners beyond what is needed to run the rating?
- Age. A serious service rates adults only and asks you to confirm it.
If the policy does not answer these, assume the photo is kept. The best AI face rating apps comparison lists what each major app says about retention.
How BecomeTen handles your photo
A free scan processes the photo for the rating and then deletes it; only the text analysis is kept. For a paid scan the photo is stored encrypted in the EU, so a later re-scan can be compared with it and the potential photo can be made, and you can download or delete it from your scans at any time (on another device, sign in with the code emailed to you). Deleting the account removes every stored scan and photo. BecomeTen does not train any model on your photos and does not sell them. The full rules are in the privacy policy.
The free browser tools work differently again. The face shape detector, the facial harmony test and the other single-measurement tools run in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
What about chatbots?
A photo sent to a general chat assistant is handled under that assistant's own data settings, which may include keeping the conversation and using it for training unless you switch that off. Check the settings before you upload a face, and remember that the number it gives is the weaker part of the answer; see can ChatGPT rate my face.
