Mogging
Mogging is forum slang for one person's looks overshadowing another's when both are in the same frame; to be mogged is to be the one overshadowed. It is a comparison, not a trait, and in a single photo it is decided mostly by lens, distance, lighting and framing. BecomeTen rates one face at a time and never ranks users.

What is mogging?
The origin is disputed; on looksmaxxing forums it means one person making another look worse by standing next to them. Variants name the axis: heightmog for being taller, facemog for a better face, framemog for shoulders. A group photo gets posted and the thread decides who mogged whom. It is a verdict on a comparison, and it travels because it is short and cruel. There is nothing in it for a rating to measure. BecomeTen rates a single face against a fixed calibration, where an average, healthy, groomed adult lands around 50 to 60 and the tiers sit above and below that. Nobody is scored against anybody else.
What a photo can and cannot show
A single photo of two people is a worse comparison than most people assume, because almost everything that decides who looks better in it is not a face:
- Lens and distance. The person nearer the camera is enlarged and distorted; the one further back is rendered flatter and smaller. In a selfie, whoever holds the phone is the one whose nose grows.
- Lighting. A window on one side lights one face from the front and the other from the side. Side light adds shadow, and shadow reads as texture, fatigue and age.
- Framing and height. Camera height flatters whoever it is level with. A tall person photographed from below reads dominant; from above, the opposite.
- Expression and timing. A frame catches one person mid-blink and the other at rest. Neither is a face.

Is mogging workable or structural?
Neither, because it is not a trait. It is a relationship between two people in one image and it changes when either moves, the camera moves or the light changes. BecomeTen has no field for it, no band for it and no plan step that mentions it. The thirty-odd traits it does rate are scored per face against the calibration, and the report never includes another person.
BecomeTen does not rank users against each other and never will. Not as a leaderboard, not as a percentile of other users, not as a "compare with a friend" feature. The percentile beside the tier is against the calibration, not against people who have scanned. A ranking of real faces would be a mogging machine, and the product exists to do the opposite: tell one person what a photo shows and what could honestly move.
What actually changes how mogging reads?
Almost everything on the list above, and almost none of it is anatomy. Move the camera back and zoom, and the size gap closes. Put the light in front of both people, and the shadowed face recovers. Level the camera with the shorter person, and height stops reading as dominance. What does it mean to get mogged in a photo?
On a forum it means someone else in the frame was judged to look better than you, so their looks overshadowed yours. In practice the frame decides most of it: who was nearer the lens, who had the light in front of them, where the camera sat and who blinked. It is a verdict on a photograph of two people, not on either face.
Will BecomeTen ever add a feature to see who mogs whom?
No. BecomeTen rates one face against a fixed calibration and never against other users; the percentile beside a tier is against that calibration, not against people who have scanned. A ranking of real faces would be a mogging tool, and the product exists to tell one person what a photo shows and what could honestly change.
Is heightmog something a face rating can see?
No. Height is not in a frontal face photo and BecomeTen does not estimate it, so a heightmog is invisible to the rating. What a group photo does with height is mostly camera position: a lens level with the taller person makes the shorter one read smaller than the difference warrants, and the reverse.
Does being photographed next to an attractive person really lower how I am rated?
Perception research does find contrast effects: a face is judged slightly differently depending on the faces seen beside or just before it. The effects are modest and they act on the observer, not on you. BecomeTen rates from a single-face photo, so no other face is there to contrast with. Comparing your own photos over time, under matched conditions, removes the problem entirely.
