Doe eyes test
Doe eyes are round, open eyes with less lift at the outer corner than average and a brow that sits a little high, the look people call innocent or youthful. This test reads how open your eyes are, the tilt and the brow from one photo, in your browser, and says whether they read doe or which type they sit closest to.

What are doe eyes?
Doe eyes are named after deer: large-looking, round and open, with a little white visible around the iris and corners that sit level or dip slightly at the outer end. The brow tends to sit high enough that plenty of upper lid shows. The effect reads open, gentle and young, which is why doe eye makeup, white liner on the waterline and lashes lengthened at the centre, is one of the oldest looks in makeup.
Three traits make the look. The opening is tall for its width, so the eye reads round. The canthal tilt is near level instead of clearly upward. The brow sits high, which shows more upper eyelid. Tip any of the three the other way and the eye moves toward almond, siren or fox.
How to tell if you have doe eyes
Look straight at a mirror at eye level with a relaxed face. If your eyes look round rather than long, and a little white shows below or above the iris without you widening them, the opening is doe-like. If an imaginary line from inner to outer corner stays level, the tilt is too. If both hold, you are in doe territory; a high brow completes it.
The test measures the same traits from a photo with a face mesh that runs on your device, compares each with real frontal photos, and names the nearest of six types. Doe and prey are neighbours: prey eyes are also round, with a flatter, level tilt and a high brow. The result names the runner-up so you can see which side you lean.
| Type | Opening | Tilt | Brow |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doe | Round, open | A little less lift than average | Slightly high |
| Prey | Round | Level | High |
| Almond | Average | Slightly upward | Average |
| Siren | Elongated | Upward | Average |
Photo rules
- Do not widen your eyes. A deliberate stare turns almost any eye doe; relax first.
- No liner or lashes. Doe makeup is designed to open the eye.
- Camera at eye level. A camera above you rounds the eyes and lifts the corners; one below turns them down.
- Even front light, no glasses. Lenses magnify or shrink the opening.
Are doe eyes attractive?
Doe eyes read youthful, and a youthful eye area is one of the more robust cues in perception research, mostly through skin and under-eye condition rather than shape. The reviews of facial attractiveness support averageness, symmetry and skin, and do not rank eye types. Doe eyes are a look people like, as are siren and fox eyes; none is the correct shape.
The shape is structural and does not change with exercises; BecomeTen does not recommend surgery. What keeps doe eyes reading doe is the workable part: sleep, under-eye care, and makeup that brightens the waterline. The full rating reads the under-eye area as its own trait.
Questions
What is the difference between doe eyes and prey eyes?
Both are round and open, but prey eyes add a flatter, level tilt and a higher brow, so more white shows and the eye reads wary. Doe eyes keep a slight lift at the corners and the look soft. The test reads the tilt and the brow gap separately to tell them apart, and names the other as runner-up when you sit between.
Do doe eyes look younger?
Usually. Round, open eyes with visible lid and a bright under-eye area are read as younger, which is why doe makeup is popular. The effect depends as much on the skin under the eye as on the shape, so tired or puffy eyes lose it quickly. Sleep and under-eye care keep it.
How can I make my eyes look more like doe eyes?
With makeup, not structure: nude or white liner on the lower waterline, lashes lengthened at the centre of the lid rather than the outer corner, and shadow kept close to the eye. Brows shaped slightly higher show more lid. None of this changes the eye; it changes how the opening reads on camera.
