Prey eyes test
Prey eyes are round, open eyes with level, unlifted outer corners under a high brow, the opposite of hunter eyes in looksmaxxing slang. This test reads the opening, the tilt and the brow height from one photo, in your browser, and says whether your eyes read prey, hunter or a type in between, with the numbers.

What are prey eyes?
Prey eyes is a looksmaxxing term for eyes that look wide open and a little wary: a round opening that shows white around the iris, corners that sit level or dip at the outer end, and a brow set high above a lot of visible lid. It is the counterpart of hunter eyes, which are narrow, tilted upward and hooded by a low brow. The names come from the idea that predators have forward, narrowed eyes and prey animals have wide, watchful ones. It is a metaphor, not biology.
| Trait | Prey eyes | Hunter eyes |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Round, white visible | Narrow |
| Canthal tilt | Level | Upward |
| Brow | High, lid visible | Low, close to the lid |
| Forum reading | Soft, anxious | Intense, masculine |
How to tell if you have prey eyes
With a relaxed face and the camera at eye level, check three things. Does white show above or below the iris without widening your eyes? Does the line from inner to outer corner stay level or tip down? Is there a lot of lid between the lashes and the brow? Three yeses is the prey pattern. The canthal tilt test reads the tilt alone, and the upper eyelid exposure entry explains the lid.
This test reads all three with a face mesh on your device and compares them with real frontal photos. It names the nearest of six types, so a round eye with a level tilt may come back doe rather than prey, and a narrow eye with a low brow comes back hunter. The runner-up shows which way you lean. Two photos taken a day apart are the honest check: if both land on prey, the pattern is yours rather than the light's.
Photo rules for prey and hunter eyes
- Relax your brows. Raised brows create prey eyes in any face; a frown creates hunter eyes.
- Camera at eye level. A camera above you lifts the corners and opens the eyes; one below turns the corners down.
- Rested eyes. Tiredness and swelling change the lid more than most people expect.
- No glasses, even light. Shadow under the brow fakes hooding.
Are prey eyes unattractive?
Not by the evidence. The forums rank hunter eyes above prey eyes, mostly for men, but attractiveness research supports averageness, symmetry, dimorphism and skin, not a named eye type. Many faces rated highly have open, round eyes, and on women the prey pattern overlaps with the doe look that makeup imitates. The forum ranking is a taste, not a finding.
The structure does not change: the orbit, the brow bone and the ligaments set it, and BecomeTen does not recommend surgery. Brow grooming that lowers the start of the brow, sleep, and relaxing a habitually raised brow change how the eyes read. The full rating reads the brow, tilt and lid as separate traits and tags each as workable or structural.
Questions
Can prey eyes become hunter eyes?
Not structurally. The tilt, the opening and the brow bone are set by the skull and the ligaments around the eye, and no exercise changes them; BecomeTen does not recommend surgery. A habitually raised brow can be relaxed, and brow grooming changes where the brow appears to start, which shifts how the eyes read.
Is it bad to have prey eyes?
No. Prey eyes are a forum label for a common eye pattern, and the research on attractiveness does not rank eye types. Round, open eyes read soft and youthful, which many people find attractive. The label says more about the forum's taste than about how faces are rated.
Why did the test say doe eyes instead of prey eyes?
Because your tilt or brow sits closer to the doe pattern. Both are round and open; prey adds a flatter tilt and a higher brow. When the two are almost equally close, the test names one and gives the other as runner-up, which is the honest answer for eyes near the line.
