What does the hunter eyes test check?
Hunter eyes is a forum term, not an anatomical one. It describes eyes that read narrow, deep-set and slightly upturned under a low, straight brow: a focused gaze, as opposed to the round, open, high-browed look the same forums call prey eyes. The tool takes the term apart into things a face mesh can actually see. It reads the shape of the eye opening, how long it is compared with how tall; it reads where the brow sits relative to the upper lid; and it reads the slope from the inner corner to the outer. Each comes back as a band, and the page shows how many of the three lean the hunter way. Everything runs on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

How to take the photo for an honest reading
Almost anyone can produce hunter eyes in a selfie. Chin down, eyes up toward a camera held slightly above eye level, brows pulled down: the lids hood, the tilt appears positive, the gaze narrows. That is a photo of a pose, not of a face, and this tool cannot tell the difference. So the photo rules are the test.
- Camera at eye level, face square. Not above, not below. This is the rule most hunter-eyes selfies break.
- Look straight at the lens, eyes open normally. Looking up narrows the opening and hoods the lid; looking down does the reverse.
- Brows relaxed. A deliberate frown drops the brow and fakes two of the three traits at once.
- Arm's length or further, head not rolled. A close lens and a tilted head both shift the corners the tilt is read from.
- Rested, if you can. Puffy lower lids fill in the outer corner and change the fissure shape.
How to read a hunter eyes result
You will see three bands. The fissure band says whether the eye opening reads long and narrow, balanced, or short and round. The brow band says whether the brow sits low over the eye, in the middle, or high with a lot of lid showing. The tilt band says positive, neutral or negative. Three hunter-leaning bands is the forum ideal; one or two is the ordinary case; none is also ordinary. The result is a description of how the eye area reads in this photo, and nothing about the count is a score.
What the count is useful for is knowing which trait is which. A low brow and a narrow fissure are mostly bone and ligament. Lid exposure has a workable component, covered under upper eyelid exposure, and so does the puffiness that rounds the outer corner. If the tool says your eyes read round, the next question is whether that is the orbit or the lid, and the full rating answers it trait by trait.

Are hunter eyes supported by the research?
Not as a package. The reviews of facial attractiveness from 2006 and 2011 support averageness, symmetry, skin condition and sex-typical features. A prominent brow ridge and a lower brow are sex-typical in men, which is where the hunter-eyes look gets what evidence it has: a deep-set, low-browed eye reads more masculine. Nothing in the literature isolates a narrow fissure or a positive tilt as a driver of ratings on its own, and nothing says a rounder, more open eye rates lower. Prey eyes, the forum's opposite, is not a finding either.
What is structural and what is workable?
Deep-set eyes and a low brow ridge are bone. The canthal tilt is a ligament on bone. None of those move with exercise, posture, tape or any routine, and BecomeTen does not recommend surgery at any tier. The tool cannot make them lean the hunter way, and this page does not promise to.
What can move is the presentation. Brow grooming changes where the brow appears to sit, especially the tail. Sleep and salt change how puffy the lower lid is, and a study photographing rested and sleep-deprived faces found the tired ones judged to have more swollen eyes and hanging lids. Body fat changes how much the orbit shows. Those are the levers a plan is allowed to use, and they can move a band without moving a bone. Most people who want hunter eyes want a rested, well-groomed version of the eyes they have, and that is achievable.
Questions
Do I have hunter eyes or prey eyes?
The tool answers with three bands rather than a label, because the label is a forum shorthand for a bundle. Three hunter-leaning bands is what the forum means by hunter eyes; three the other way is what it calls prey eyes; most people are mixed. Neither label carries evidence, and a rounder, more open eye does not rate lower in the research.
Can I get hunter eyes without surgery?
You can get the presentation, not the bone. A low brow ridge, deep-set orbit and positive tilt are structural and nothing non-surgical changes them. Brow grooming, sleep, lower body fat and an eye-level photo change how the eye area reads, and that is what most before-and-after pictures actually show. Why does the hunter eyes test say my eyes are round when they look narrow in my selfies?
Because the selfie was probably taken from above with the chin down and the eyes raised, which hoods the lids and narrows the opening. This tool asks for an eye-level, straight-ahead photo, and on that photo the opening reads as it is. The selfie was a pose; the test is the face.
Does a low brow always mean hunter eyes?
No. A low brow is one of three traits and the only one with any research behind it, as a sex-typical feature in men. A low brow with a round, open fissure and a neutral tilt is a common combination and reads perfectly well. The tool shows the three bands separately so that one trait is not mistaken for the bundle.
