Answer · Jaw & chin
How do you make your jawline show?
If you carry extra body fat, lowering it is the first step: fat along the jaw and under the chin is what hides the edge on many faces. Then hold your head level, shape a short beard to draw the line, and take photos at eye level from arm's length or further. These reveal the jaw you have; nothing non-surgical changes the bone itself.
The outline and balance of the lower face.
Explore jaw & chinWhat works, in order
- Body fat. The largest lever if you have fat to lose. Fat over the jaw corner and under the chin fills the outline, and it leaves the face late, so the scale can fall for weeks before the jaw changes. A moderate diet and overall activity do this; spot exercises do not. If you are already lean, losing more will not reveal more jaw; talk to a doctor before dieting hard. Detail in body fat and the jawline.
- Posture. A head pushed forward bunches the skin under the chin and blurs the edge. Ears over shoulders, chin level, and the corner shows.
- Beard. Stubble or a short beard kept tight at the cheeks and clean under the jaw draws a sharper edge. The beard style tool suggests shapes by face shape.
- Photos. Eye level, arm's length or further, light from the front or slightly above. A low phone or a close lens makes any jaw read heavier.
What does not work
Jaw trainers and hard gum build some masseter muscle, which widens the lower face a little; they do not change the gonial angle. Mewing has no clinical evidence for reshaping an adult jaw. Face yoga and chin exercises do not remove fat from one spot. Hormones are not a shortcut either: testosterone does not enlarge an adult jaw. BecomeTen does not recommend surgery or implants; fillers appear in a plan only if you opt into injectables, flagged for a professional.
How to know it is working
Take a baseline photo under fixed conditions: same spot, same light, eye level, head level, relaxed mouth. Run it through the free jawline test and repeat every few weeks; the face and neck are often late to lose fat, so expect little change at first, then a visible shift. If the angle band sharpens as body fat falls, the softness was fat. If it holds, the corner is bone, and what a weak jawline looks like explains what that means. Some people never get a sharp corner because the gonial angle is largely genetic, and that is fine: a lean, clean outline reads well on any jaw.
